DUAL APPLICATION AGENCY

Dual Application Agency (DAA) was established in 2002 as a project that investigates the possibilities of collaborative artistic inquiry and practice. While open to established cooperative methods where individual artists contribute their parts to one artistic production, its more specific intention is to create significant art collectively through exploring the possibilities of artists working together simultaneously to produce imagery of shared authorship.

DAA develops its imagery through a number of related activities:

it devises and implements strategies for art making requiring coordinated action both conceptually and physically

it establishes predetermined procedures and processes requiring participation by more than one artist

it develops various processes and materials that can serve as the basis for creating specific and distinct bodies of work

it utilizes mutual planning to create means that eliminate the personal alterations and corrections normally employed in the course of making one's work

it makes imagery that embodies collective sensibilities

it enlarges on various collaborative art projects undertaken in the past and devises processes for new imagery

DAA has been initiated as a partnership between two Chicago artists, Burleigh Kronquist and Ben Dallas. Its organizational structure is not fixed and will potentially redefine itself through the same sort of experimentation and discovery that generates its visual productions.
